Snow in Okla

I took this pic of Steph & Kaia and love it!

Long Time to Write

Well, it's been a long time since I wrote here. Things have been extra busy around here it seems... you already know about my fostering 7 pups for 2 weeks (good experience, but never again that many). And I think I mentioned my Dad had a stroke, so my brother and I have been working together on Dad's care, always a challenge with Dad as you know. Sis wants to be less involved so that's why I didn't mention her. Greg & I visited him last Sunday, and he's doing ok, stubborn and challenging as ever.

Today, Friday and overnight, we received some snow and ice. Of course, a few pellets here and there and the town shuts down! Campus is closed today, and closed yesterday at 1:00. Since our radio station is part of OSU and we're on campus, we are on the same hours. But I would imagine some people are still at work anyway. I am doing a few work things from home, but expect it will be a slow work day. I may try to see Book of Eli later today w/Adam.

Adam and I are doing pretty well actually. He's been a real trooper, helping me with the pups and pampering me when I threw my back out again about 3 weeks ago. It has been tough - I go to work, but I don't sit...it has been too painful to sit... I stand at the computer. I am in physical therapy 2x/week and on pain meds, muscle relaxants at night during the work week.

Adam had a party with his friends last Saturday, and I helped him with that. I think there were 14 of us; he made chicken fried steak, stir-fry veggies, and dessert. We drank a little, played cards, fun music, and even danced a little. One of the girls has an 18-mo old. It was fun to meet all of them.

Just talked to my niece Kaia on the phone - she gave me a kiss on the phone (and accidentally hung up on me). Too funny. She can say "Paula" pretty clearly now, although sometimes it sounds like "Pada". When I leave the room at their house, say to the bathroom, she runs up and down the hall, saying my name over and over, looking for me. It's so cute and makes me feel special. :o)

I am still talking to a psychologist here and really think it's helping (thanks again to Maureen and Janie for urging me to do so!). She is very good to talk to and helps me stay sane!

Wiley & Joey have been fine, maybe a little neglected lately with the pups and the weather being so unpredictable, then my back issues. They don't get walks near like they used to, but I'll get back to that soon I hope.

I mentioned Adam & I may be seeing "Book of Eli" later today (depending on my back; not sure I can sit that long but feeling better so thought I'd try it). I've heard great things. I watched "A Serious Man" this week, it was odd, Cohen brothers film, about Jewish characters. Very odd. I usually like odd films, but I'm not sure I liked this one that much. I saw Avatar, liked the visual effects but the story had been done many times. I don't see movies near like I used to; I've put my Netflix on hold, maybe for the 5th time!? I don't have the same focus I used to, so it's hard for me to sit still to watch. I heard "A Single Man" is also very good!

It seems whatever free time I have, I sleep or do the normal things to keep up with life, and that does NOT include finishing painting my living room. So I still have the walls painted 3/4 up the wall but not above the drapery line, so part of the wall is blue, and part beige. Eventually I'll get to it!

That's a (long) upeate from me in Stillwater! Hope to talk to you all soon,
